Who is Jackson? Why Stonewall? Chronicles??!!
Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson – born January 21, 1824
Jackson Caldwell Kohler – born January 21, 2007
Believe-it-or-not, we (Jillian and Franz) had no idea when Jackson was born that he was born on Stonewall’s birthday. If you were to ask Franz, he’d tell you that Jackson was named after Stonewall Jackson, one of his admired history characters. Yet if you ask me, Jillian, I’d probably tell you that Franz only agreed to the name Jackson because he could associate it with a person in history that he admired. I suppose it’s a bit like “which came first, the chicken or the egg”? Either way, when we found out that he was born on Stonewall Jackson’s birthday we couldn’t help but be amazed.
As for the Chronicles, we figured that since we both love and admire the writings of CS Lewis – the reference was all too appropriate.
Speaking of Lewis, for those who haven’t seen this picture of Jackson yet, it’s quite a hoot. This should give you an indication of what happens when we leave Jackson with Grandmother Claire.
As somewhat ”gaga” first time parents we decided to start this blog to share our pictures and stories of life with Jackson. I am sure that our politics, movies choices, thoughts and opinions will find it’s way onto a page or two also; but for our friends and family – many of whom (and you know who you are) live in different states and other areas of the country – we thought that it might be a fun way to broadcast the “fun”!!
This is especially for my father, the man who enjoys calling at 5:00 AM on any random day, “just to see if you are up!” and “to see what’s new?” To whom I can now reply, “Please check out the blog page – I will call you when I wake up!”

The site looks great!
I’m eager to keep track of my nephew.
If only you would have named him “Wolverine” or “Collossus.”
There’s still time to change.
He is absolutely darling. What an absolute wonderful start for this young man. Jillian, I think he would love Pasta House with the red meat sauce. mmm
Thank you so much for including us in your email list. We would love to keep up with JJ&F- especially now that we do not see each other at K Group.
I like Jackson’s choice of authors. Maybe he can help me with some of the concepts of C S Lewis that I have difficulty with.
Grace and Peace,
tlh
You should nickname Jackson Caldwell “J. C.” Kohler that way he is all set to become the next famous author as all famous authors like C.S. Lewis and R.C. Sproul just use initials in their name and not to mention the greatest author of creation, you know, “J. C.” Jesus Christ – now that is a big one!
Great site…Great name…Great parents…
Keep the photos coming so we can keep up with the little man. I can’t believe how he’s growing! He’ll be running soon (football), and he’s a scholar (C.S. Lewis!)…I think we have a Wheaton grad in the making.
Great blog! I love keeping up with people this way. In fact, I’m going to add you to our blog role so that I remember to check it regularly. Keep posting!
Being that I am Jackson’s favorite Aunt (JK!), I just had to write something! Looks good, Jill. I am excited to see how the blog progresses. I just can’t believe how quickly he grows and changes! Thanks for doing this! Love you!
